GREY AREA:
THE CHOICE
"When the law fails, who answers?"
For fans of Jack Carr's THE TERMINAL LIST and Lee Child's REACHER
Synopsis
Special Agent Amara Singh is the FBI's best pattern-recognition analyst. When she begins noticing anomalies in classified files—credentials that shouldn't exist, cases that close inexplicably, targets who die in convenient "accidents"—she opens an investigation that will consume her.
Meanwhile, Colonel Michael Dalton leads a five-person team operating under a presidential finding so classified that fewer than a dozen people know it exists. Their mission: handle cases where the legal system has catastrophically failed. Human traffickers who walk on technicalities. Predators protected by wealth and power. Monsters the law cannot touch.
As Amara hunts them and they hunt the untouchable, both sides must confront an impossible question: What is justice when the system designed to deliver it breaks down?
From the halls of power in Washington to the darkest corners of the dark web, from Montana cult compounds to Baltimore's blue wall of silence, THE CHOICE follows fifteen operations that will test every member of the team—and force Amara Singh to decide whether some laws are meant to be broken.
"We're illegal. We're unconstitutional. We're everything you were trained to stop. We're also the only thing standing between certain monsters and the people they hurt."
— Colonel Michael Dalton
